PTD EXCLUSIVE: James Baxter/ Moses from Prince of Egypt
So I am also working on converting James' Animation Reels!!!! They are all on 3/4 inch tape so I have to find a company that can do it, which should not be a problem. James has been a great sport about having his work on the PTD and I know we are all grateful. Check out this test...I have a few more too!

PTD EXCLUSIVE!: Kristof Serrand... all next week!
Hey Guys,
So I have the pleasure of working with many people that I have admired as animators for a long time. Kristof Serrand is not new to me because I knew of his work very well (as will some of you once you see). I owe a giant thank you to Rune Bennicke for mentioning my love of animation and the site to Kristof. If you have not seen his work you are in for a real treat. He has been animating professionally since 1981, teaching at Gobelins since 1986, and has been an asset to Dreamworks since 1995. He is a master animator with a technical prowess that will amaze you. The animation that you will see from Kristof will enlighten, inspire, motivate, and bring a smile to your face.... I promise.
Kristof has allowed me to showcase many pieces of his work on the Pencil Test Depot and I am excited to share his beautiful work with all of you. Here is just one of the clips that I will be posting. (below is a link to interview with Kristof for How to Train Your Dragon).
-Enjoy.....

My Monster Burrufu: A kids book by 2 Animators!
My Monster Burrufu is written by Alberto Corral an animator at Dreamworks and illustrated by Alessandra Sorrentino, one of the animators of the Secret of Kells (some of her work is posted here on the PTD). The book is about a young girl named Olivia who has moved into a new house and befriends a monster named Burrufu who is hiding in the attic. A story of friendship and adventure...and the artwork is just amazing. I love the style and it just asks to be animated. I wanted to get the book for my daughter so she could have it when she was old enough to take it on. You can pick up a copy by clicking on the name and also take a look at the website of both artists...just click click click.

Dale Baer: Owl from Winnie the Pooh
Dale Baer is one of the great animators you don't hear much about. He is a quiet guy but is definitely one of the best animators on the planet. His skill set and attention to detail is magnificent. He is also one of the few living animators who got to work in production with some of the 9 Old Men on Disney's Robin Hood. If you dont know who he is ...go find out about him!

Ken Duncan: Megara from Disney's Hercules
So I got two emails one from Ken and one for Pedro Daniel Garcia at Sergio's studio about the wonderful Meg tests. I think most people liked here character because she had a lot of attitude and wasnt a typical "Disney Woman". These are great.. thanks to Ken for posting these.

OTHER PENCIL TESTS
Hey Guys...
I realized there are some Pencil Tests that have no specific name or label attached. I am going through the blog and tagging the non-animator specific animations "Other Pencil Tests".
Click the name in the animator list and it will give you the non-specific tests or new names in animation.

Sergio Pablos: Tantor
I while back I had a few conversations with Sergio Pablos when he came to LA on business and through email. Many would agree that Sergio is one of the best living animators. He is a fan of the Pencil Test Depot and I know there are many fans of his that visit the site. He has graciously donated some of his fantastic work from Tarzan to the site. If you have not been to his site you can go here:
Some people may not know that Sergio created Despicable Me and was a major force behind the characters of Blue Sky's RIO. Visit the site and see the other goodies that him and his team are working on!
Thanks Sergio

...but I thought...New Pencil Tests?....
Hey guys,
Its been a while and I have not posted much. I have many pencil tests that I probably wont be able to post until I retired or something, but I just got a hold of some things that can be shown. One of my colleagues and Dreamworks has given me a bunch of goodies.
Please be patient as I try to squeeze in time to get them prepared.

Living Lines Library...and the torch gets passed...
So I received an email pointing me to Péter Nagy's new website the Living Lines Library. He has compiled pencil tests, model sheets, and other things hand drawn related and placed him on an organized site for your enjoyment. The way things are laid out here you can easily find what you are looking for. I would have love to devote that much time to build the site up even more, but it is what it is... everything can be improved upon. I liked what he has done and you should swing by and check it out!
2011 "...on to the next one..." stay tuned
Thanks for all the support that you have given to the Pencil Test Depot...... I will see you around the web & in the animation studio.
Pencil Test Depot will still live inside of iAnimate .
