So much restraint. How tempting would it of been to over-animate the laugh and to drag the eyebrows a bit more when going into that laugh pose... as well as the inhale. Milt is the master.
When I was a child I fell in love with Robin Hood, without even thinking about the fact that it is just a fictional, drawn character. I was always fascinated how talented animators breathe life into something that does not exist materially.
Just a note to let you know that there's something odd about the embedded Video of the "Collection Day for the Poor" Robin Hood pencil test ... when someone clicks on the play button it opens up a new window which goes to my (David Nethery's) YouTube page , instead of just playing the video .

This blog is for the people who love pencil tests. It can also be used as a resource for animators who are looking to study another animators work. Feel free to email me with pencil tests that you think should be posted here and we will review them and add them to the list.
I also want to say that we respect all the animators that are posted on this blog and it is in no way trying to gain anything from showing the pencil tests here except knowledge and inspiration. Animation has been a long passion for myself and the other authors of the blog. If any of the animators who are posted here feel that we should take the work down, we will do so immediately.

Beautiful! Thanks for posting another Milt masterpiece!
Gorgeous. I love it. So cool that you are digging these up.
I got it from Rune Bennicke. (to give credit where due)
